Literacy

Afghanistan suffered from 3 decades of wars, and various setbacks. 92-95% of Afghans are illiterate. This Turkmen is in his early thirties and just started to learn how read and write. It changed him; he is a new man... It's like being literate had given him hope for a better future for him and his children. He is our guard and he spends every free minute, learning. We never see him any more without s notebook or a book. Literacy is amazing thing!
