It's a harvest time and farmers are busy with their crops that survived a drought , locusts plague and other disasters. Separating wheat from chaff is a hard and tedious work. It must feels good when it's finished!

So this separation of wheat and chaff, if taken theologically, is the hard work done by God. Literal wheat and chaff work is hard work for humans. This is an excellent representation of that.
